My life as a cook
Favorite childhood memories:
Churning butter with Grandma… Baking pie with Aunt Judy… Mom introducing me to the art of bread baking.
Teen with an attitude:
Still, I paused from rebellion most weeknights to enjoy cooking dinner for our family of eight.
In my roaring twenties:
I shared various homes with various friends; cooking meals for each other was the very best part.
As a thirty-something:
I truly embraced the dinner party, for which I’d bind small books with the recipes hand-written out.
Eventually a bride:
My time with friends before the wedding was spent cooking up the feast, including the dessert: rhubarb pie.
Mama in my forties:
Cooking was the art form I found to be most compatible with parenting.
Now I’m in my fifties:
Rather than planning my retirement, I’m worried about how to keep employed… Hey! What better way to learn coding than to hand-code a cookbook site?
The recipes in this site…
…in many cases are ones that I’ve developed myself. There are also recipes from cookbooks or cooking classes that have become my “go-to’s,” much-loved dishes I’ve prepared repeatedly. (You’ll find the sources cited at the top of the recipe page.)
These dishes have been enjoyed often in my home; I hope they bring joy to your table, too.
Happy cooking!
